Slade R. Culp, PhD, is a Staff Scientist in the Applied Physics Group at UTRC. Primary areas of research are related to sensor technology development and integration, human interfaces, direct write technologies and applications, energy conversion and storage, power electronics, and electric machines; recent projects include sensor development for motor control applications; , high temperature electronics development; thermoelectric materials, device, and system design and simulation; building integration of organic photovoltaics and lifetime and reliability characterization of materials and assemblies in electric motor and drive. Current activities are focused on development of human interfaces for building systems as well as capability development and UTC application definition of direct write technologies for electronics, optics, and integrated sensors.

Slade has 10 years experience, technical contribution and project management in applied physics and industrial R&D; having earned a PhD. (2006) and MS (2004) in Physics (thermoelectric materials emphasis) from University of Virginia and BS in Physics from University of Utah in 2001.
