K-12 Student Outreach Program

The CHM through the MassNanoTech Institute invites groups of students to campus for exciting explorations and activities into nanotechnology-related science, engineering, and everyday nano-scale curiosities. Our presentations are geared toward grades 9-12, and grades 4-8. Our aim is to develop interests in nanotechnology and explore how this area of science might relate to prior school lessons in chemistry, physics, general science, and to everyday life. The campus visits include PowerPoint presentations by graduate students, hands-on activities and demonstrations, and guided tours of our research laboratories and facilities. There is no cost for the visit. Lunch and parking are free. Travel allowances to/from campus are also available on a limited basis. A typical visit to campus is lasts between 2.5 and 3 hours.
